Xiaomi Opens HyperOS 4 Global Beta for Flagship Phones

The Chinese smartphone giant has made another significant leap forward for its software platform by releasing the HyperOS 4 global beta to its latest flagship device owners. The test program, initiated in China last month, is now available to users on devices with a Global and EEA variant.

The initial wave is live, and it’s open to Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Leica Leitzphone with Xiaomi right now through the Xiaomi Community app. The second set of devices- including the Xiaomi 17T Pro, Xiaomi 17T, Xiaomi 15 Ultra and the Xiaomi 15- come on September 17. Those seven devices will be the first group, in the beginning of Xiaomi’s testing cohort, but there are still more to come.

HyperOS 4 is not just an update like any other. Xiaomi claims it is a new build that has stripped away all the last hints of MIUI. All theessentialapps have been rebuild from scratch using newer tools, which the company claims results in ‘noticeably faster speed and an even more stable experience than before. It bodes well; keen observers have noted that applications now loads quicker, camera opens at a quicker rate and the overall performance is more fluid. With appearance, the new Soft Light Glass theme is used. The general look is a lot cleaner and modern, utilising translucent layers, soft blur effects and simpler, sleeker design languages.

Apart from the overall design, there will be many improvements that users will be able to see. For example, on the home screens, the widget system has become more flexible, allowing them to stacks and resize much better. Notification shade will also be grouped more intelligently, and the device hub has been redesigned to be more accessible with many Xiaomi device connected. Intelligence will be over increased quite a bit, with the new version of Super XiaoAI agent built in, it will take more commands and be further integrated into system-level processes.

Getting involved is simple too. Simply go to the Xiaomi Community app, find the ME tab, then Beta testing, and in these menu choose Recruiting test. Enter your information and keep your fingers crossed. Because of the limits on numbers of users, it pays to get your application in early. Then when the update is available, it downloads over the air. Xiaomi tells beta testers: Please note that the beta build can still have bugs and for a work device it might not always be the most suitable.

And people outside of China will also be able to get the new experience. There are a number of Xiaomi fans outside of their home market who have been waiting and watching the details of the China beta and its initial screenshots. The release by market, across different continents and time zones, also enables the company to obtain different markets response and optimize the software before launching a general stable release in the next months.

The timings make sense considering Xiaomi’s recent hardware dumping. The Xiaomi 17 handsets already came with great cameras, vibrant screens and competent speed. Combining that with a major overhaul of the smartphones’ OS and emphasizing speed, customization and intelligent AI is a smarter set of package.
