Apple HomeView Debuts With A18 Chip and Multi-User Face Recognition

Apple has launched HomeView, a new smart display that aims to unify home automation, entertainment, and private AI into a single package. The device, priced at $299 in the US, is a smart display that features a seven-inch screen, an A18 chip and facial recognition for a potential of six people in a household.

Apple introduced HomeView on October 13 2026 marking the iPhone maker’s latest push beyond the smartphone, tablet, and computer to the smart-home market. The gadget is designed for families to control smart devices, video-chat, listen to music and view personal data through an improved Siri.

This HomeView model includes a 7-inch Liquid Retina display integrated into an adjustable base. HomeView can be placed on a desk, countertop, or bedside table, or installed on a wall (a wall-mount version is available separately).

Out on the display is Apple Home (helps you control your smart home), personal widgets photos music and communication. You can talk to Siri to turn out the lights, set your thermostat, lock compatible doors or even see a security camera’s feed without reaching for your iPhone.

The device is capable of displaying up to nine videos in one view, so you’re able to see several areas of your home at one time. Available on supported cameras with an iCloud+ plan, and configured for supported security features, known people, pets, packages, and vehicles can be recognized.

Entertainment HomeView has FaceTime, music, and video entertainment. The HomeView speaker system consists of a down-firing woofer and two full-range drivers for optimal sound quality. The speaker system has computational audio, which balances sound per where it’s being played.

The A18 processor sits at the centre of HomeView’s capabilities. This powerful chip supports Apple’s artificial intelligence functions, processes images and sound, and ensures the secure handling of camera and microphone data.

Siri AI more conversational HomeView debuts Siri AI, a more conversational assistant that learns the context of requests and can help users accomplish common tasks. When paired with a supported Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, the new Siri can draw from relevant information from supporting applications to offer users more contextual assistance.

For instance, a person may inquire about something they saw in Messages, view a scheduled calendar appointment, or seek info about a previously saved item. These types of prompts are meant to make the user experience more seamless while keeping individual data separate in the household.

Apple has also noted that Siri requests will have the option of on-device processing or Private Cloud Compute.

One of HomeView’s defining features is its ability to recognise up to six people through facial recognition. Once a registered user is identified, the device can display a personalised home screen with relevant applications, widgets, and information.

This solves a problem many people encounter with shared smart displays. Instead of being shown the same reminders, events, and messages to the whole household, HomeView creates a personalized experience.

A single recognised face does not always apply to every personal request: the paired iPhone or iPad of the user needs to be on the same Wi-Fi network and have been unlocked within the last hour.
