Sources say Apple is on track to deliver one of its biggest Mac and iPad product refreshes in years, culminating in a new touchscreen MacBook Pro and refreshed iPad mini, due to be unveiled in late October. The announcement could be a significant change in the design direction of Apple’s notebooks and bring vital display and usability enhancements to the smallest tablet.
Bloomberg reports the launch is scheduled for just after or around October 27, 2026. It is said that the presentation will be accompanied by an online video presentation besides a press meet. The gadgets are speculated to be worth looking at to individuals involved in video creation, music, and photography.
The product garnering the most attention is the rumored touchscreen MacBook Pro. Apple has long focused on trackpads, keyboards, and indirect touch interfaces with its Mac computers, separate from the direct touchscreen input that has been the hallmark of the iPad. The new model would inch the two product lines closer together while sticking with the Mac’s desktop OS and laptop tradition.
The new MacBook Pros to be launched this year will probably have OLED screens that offer better black levels, contrast, and overall picture quality than traditional LCD panels. The notebook is also said to be getting a redesign where it will be even thinner and lighter than its predecessors. Dynamic Island, an interactive display area first seen on recent iPhones, is another thing expected.
And perhaps it might be a boon for creative work, for instance to let photographers touch individual images or line up edits, for video editors to traverse video timelines via touch, and for music producers to let touch control digital audio workstations. But specific software and gesture details have not been confirmed.
A new iPad mini with a larger screen Apple also is allegedly working on a new iPad mini with a big-screen upgrade. The current-generation device arrived in 2024, and the next iteration is predicted to be OLED. An OLED display could boost contrast and make dark scenes more detailed, which could boost video watching, reading, and gaming on the mini.
Another upgrade is for the front-facing camera to switch to the landscape side when you hold the device horizontally, the video calls will be more natural. Rumours also suggest that a new speaker system is in the pipeline. and in the future you’ll be able to use the new iPad mini to call friends and work with work, entertainment, and productivity in mind.
The late-October launch could include additional Mac updates. Reports indicate that Apple is preparing an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M6 processor and an updated iMac. Both models are expected to retain designs similar to their current versions while receiving newer processors. The touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro models may occupy a separate position in the lineup, with their redesigned displays and thinner construction distinguishing them from conventional updates.
