Chet Lowe and the Value of Serving Others Through Faith

Chet Lowe was born in the Bahamas in 1970. It is not surprising that he was raised in a religious setting given that he lived in a home where faith and life coexisted on a daily basis. His parents, Ira and Pam Lowe, were devoted and compassionate from a young age. At the age of seven, Chet opened a Vacation Bible School in his family’s garage.

Lowe’s sense of purpose was strengthened by the experiences of his early adolescence. At thirteen, he embarked on a mission to assist in the construction of a church in South Korea. This year, he went to Liberia to help build a school. This enhanced his comprehension of what ministry is and validated his authority to behave appropriately.

In 1995, he wed Andrea, and during the civil unrest in Liberia, they moved their child there. They did this out of conviction rather than comfort, and eventually they helped establish Josephs Brethren, which provided about 1,500 child soldiers and other children of war with security, guidance, and transformative support. They also reared four additional children after adopting them.

Since his return to the United States in 1982, Chet has conducted ministry at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale to single people, married couples, parents, foster care, and missions for nearly forty years. He has a master’s degree in Christian counseling and has assisted numerous individuals in overcoming adversity. In order to reach young adults in El Salvador, Brazil, the Bahamas, and the United States, he founded Patmos: Reality Discipleship in 2005.

Since Lowe’s journey has been one of grief, I want to conclude the discussion about his life with the suffering in his heart. The first instance occurred in 2011 when his younger brother, a Navy lieutenant, perished in an aircraft accident. His parents have both died since this writing, yet he has persisted in helping and instructing others while letting grief heighten his empathy.

After moving to Southern California in 2015, Lowe was appointed head pastor of Coast Hills Church in Aliso Viejo. Calvary Chapel South Bay was renamed in 2021 after the South Bay congregation was requested to assume leadership. Currently known as Calvary LIFE, the church is run by Pastor Chet Lowe and Andrea. The four governing principles of the church are Learning the Word, Investing in Relationships, Following the Way of Christ Jesus, and Engaging Our World.

Checkpoints are not nearly as exciting to Chet Lowe as the next chance to motivate, recruit, or accomplish a goal. From his early beginnings in his parents’ Bahamas garage to the streets of Los Angeles, this man has devotedly pursued his vocation, and he still does it with the same fervor.
